The one-room schoolhouse is one of the most iconic symbols of our past. In the earliest days, they were little more than tiny log cabins, built without electricity, running water, insulated walls, or leakproof roofs. Fortunately, most of them had wood stoves so the children would not freeze during the harsh winter months.
